Washington, D.C. & North Bethesda, Maryland
February 11 - 16, 2024
My second trip took me to the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C.! I also went to North Bethesda, Maryland. I learned a lot on this trip about my job and had a blast pretending I was the President of the United States being chauffeured around the city. I spent Valentine’s Day working, but thankfully I love my job!!

I woke up super early so that my chauffeur could drive me to the airport. I’m so glad I had him to drive me because I can’t quite reach the peddles and steering wheel at the same time. After arriving at the airport safely, I waited in line to check my bag and get my plane ticket. Everyone was really nice, but I still had to go through the X-ray scanner in a backpack. It was still a little scary, but not as bad as my last trip. After getting through the security checkpoint, I found a spot in the American Airlines Admirals Club to wait for boarding. I ate some made-to-order avocado toast. Yum!
After a short wait, I boarded the plane. My seat was comfy, and there was even an optional napping nook that I fit into perfectly. I’m always a little anxious waiting for takeoff, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of things now. I love having a window seat to watch the clouds and scenery below. The stewardess gave me a hot towel, some nuts to snack on, and a delicious meal. I might have cheated and eaten dessert first!
I arrived safely in Washington, D.C., quickly found my luggage, and then waited for my ride to pick me up. I definitely felt like the President waiting for a Secret Service escort.
The ride to my hotel was quick, and I enjoyed the sightseeing along the way. I checked into my room and had fun exploring my room before I unpacked my bags. I liked the view from my room, but jumping on the bed was way more fun. After checking out the coffee station, I found something they call a “clothes closet,” but I think it’s actually a zipline. It sure was fun! I decided to be thrifty and learn to make my meals in my hotel room. I made a delicious meal of pulled pork, mashed potatoes, and ranch-style beans. The key to hotel room cooking is bringing your spices from home, and always ask to have a microwave and refrigerator in your room. I love getting creative with shelf-stable meals!

I didn’t want to get up this morning because the bed was comfy. I had to fight the urge to hit the snooze button. However, I was ready to go after a nice cup of coffee. I tried to carry my backpack, but it was a little too big for me. I got it on my back, but I couldn’t quite reach the floor to stand up. I think I still need to grow just a little bit more.
I learned all about Excel at work today, then had a quick lunch followed by more learning. It was really fun, and I think I definitely excelled at learning how to use it!
I relaxed in my room for a bit before I made supper. I made a little Indian bowl, and it was so good! Tomorrow, I want to explore the hotel restaurant and see what kind of food it has.

This morning, I took a much-needed wake-me-up shower and then ordered Starbucks for both breakfast and a lunch supplement. Don’t tell my boss, but I may have ordered coffee for the entire class on her Starbucks account as well (no photos of the bulk order, so I can deny it later). Not that Excel is boring, but 8 hours with no caffeine is a long time!
I did a little exploring at Hello Betty Bethesda today. I must admit I love it, especially the people working here. I only took a few photos, but I will return before heading home. Also, rumor has it that they have a cool boat/ship on the patio during the nicer months.
Tonight is noodles… but I might splurge a little tomorrow, so stay tuned to see what I decide. :)

I grabbed a quick breakfast at Hello Betty Bethesda this morning and headed to work. I learned a lot more today, but I won’t bore you with all the details. I decided to treat myself for Valentine’s Day with a delicious meal at Hello Betty. Yum! I’m definitely in love with their food!!

I had a busy but productive day at work today. After using my big brain all day, I was pretty tired, so I grabbed a nice meal before heading back to my room to sleep.

I got up this morning and packed. Then I went to my last work day here, followed by a delicious lunch. Check out of the hotel was easy peasy, and I took an Uber to the airport. I waited to board my flight at the Admirals Club. The flight home went by quickly, probably because I napped the entire way back. I did wake up long enough to chow down on some terrific enchiladas.
I made it home and was surprised with a beautiful bouquet of flowers! I guess I have a secret admirer somewhere out there.
Now, to rest up and plan for my next trip! Where do you think I’m heading next?
